Products · Point of sale
The queue does not wait for the network.
Counter and self-service hardware for retail, hospitality and food service, specified so that a transaction still completes when the connection to head office does not.
This catalogue lists what Noble supplies and how it is specified. It carries no prices, no stock or availability position, no ratings or reviews, and no manufacturer specifications — everything technical is confirmed against the requirement at quotation, because a published figure nobody has verified is a figure somebody will procure against.
What this category is for
A point of sale is a queue-management device before it is a computer. Boot time, peripheral reliability and offline behaviour decide the customer experience, and a terminal that takes four minutes to recover from a restart is a terminal that costs a shift of trading.
Payment devices carry handling obligations and belong on their own network segment. Where they share a network with guest wireless or back-office systems, an ordinary IT incident becomes a payment incident, which is a different kind of conversation entirely.
What it covers
Product types rather than part numbers. The type is the decision; the model follows from the requirement and is confirmed at quotation.
POS terminals
Fixed and mobile terminals, all-in-one or modular, specified for counter space, spill and continuous daily use.
Receipt printing, scanning and cash
The peripherals that fail most and are noticed most: receipt printers, scanners, cash drawers and customer displays.
Payment peripherals
Card terminals and pin entry devices, with the segmentation and handling requirements that come attached to them.
Self-service and kiosks
Ordering and check-in kiosks, specified for unattended operation, public handling and remote monitoring.
What decides the specification
The questions a quotation is built from. Answering these is usually faster than sending a part number, and it catches the requirement a part number would have got wrong.
- 01
What happens when the link drops
Whether the terminal keeps trading offline and reconciles afterwards. This is the single question that separates a working store estate from a fragile one.
- 02
The counter it sits on
Space, cable routes, power, spill exposure and who is standing where — which decides form factor more than a specification sheet does.
- 03
What network it is on
Payment devices separated from guest and back-office traffic, decided before installation rather than after an assessment.
- 04
How many sites, built the same way
An identical build in every branch is what makes remote support and a spares pool possible. Variation is the reason branch IT becomes unsupportable.
The work around it
Hardware arrives configured, installed and supported, or it arrives in a box. These are the services that make the difference.
Brand and model names are used descriptively where a requirement names one. All marks belong to their owners.
Send the requirement.
A quantity, an environment and what it has to connect to is enough to start. Noble quotes against the requirement rather than from a price list, and says where a specification will not do what it is being asked to do.
