Everything else depends on this one.
Campus, branch, datacentre and industrial networking — the layer whose failures present as somebody else’s problem, and the one where a specification made for a floor plan rarely survives contact with the building.
This catalogue lists what Noble supplies and how it is specified. It carries no prices, no stock or availability position, no ratings or reviews, and no manufacturer specifications — everything technical is confirmed against the requirement at quotation, because a published figure nobody has verified is a figure somebody will procure against.
What this category is for
A network is specified twice: once on a drawing and once by the building it is installed in. Concrete, distance, interference, cable routes that do not exist and rooms that were repurposed after the design are the reason coverage surveys matter more than datasheet ranges.
Segmentation is the other half. Building systems, production networks, guest access, payment devices and the corporate estate should not be able to reach each other by default, and retrofitting that separation is far more expensive than designing it in.
What it covers
Product types rather than part numbers. The type is the decision; the model follows from the requirement and is confirmed at quotation.
Access and core switching
Edge switches where devices connect and core switches everything aggregates into, with power over Ethernet where cameras, access points and phones are fed from the same cable.
Wireless
Access points and controllers for offices, warehouses, campuses and open ground — where density and interference decide the design far more than headline throughput does.
Routing and site connectivity
Routers, firewalls as hardware, and the links between sites — including the second path that decides whether a cut cable is an incident or an inconvenience.
Structured cabling and optics
Copper and fibre, patching, containment and transceivers. The least interesting line on a quotation and the one most likely to delay a project.
What decides the specification
The questions a quotation is built from. Answering these is usually faster than sending a part number, and it catches the requirement a part number would have got wrong.
- 01
The building, not the floor plan
Construction, distances, existing containment and where power is available. A wireless design produced without a survey is a guess that gets discovered on the day of handover.
- 02
What connects, and how many
Endpoint count, powered devices, and whether anything on the network is a machine rather than a person — because a production device and a laptop belong on different segments.
- 03
What must not reach what
Guest, payment, building systems, production and corporate traffic. Deciding this at design time costs a VLAN plan; deciding it later costs a project.
- 04
What happens when a link fails
Whether there is a second path, and whether anybody would notice the first one failing before a user did.
The work around it
Hardware arrives configured, installed and supported, or it arrives in a box. These are the services that make the difference.
- CloudNetwork design, segmentation, routing, private links and hybrid connectivity as one architecture rather than two.
- SecuritySegmentation between environments and functions, remote and third-party access, and the controls that make the network a boundary rather than a floor.
- Managed IT ServicesNetwork operations, capacity and change, vendor and circuit coordination, and monitoring that catches a degraded link before a user reports it.
Specified alongside
- Surveillance & accessCameras and access controllers are network devices drawing power over the same cable, and they size the switch.
- Power & infrastructureA comms room that loses power takes the site with it, whatever else is resilient.
- Industrial computingWhere the switch is going into a plant rather than a rack, it is a different product with a different rating.
Brand and model names are used descriptively where a requirement names one. All marks belong to their owners.
Send the requirement.
A quantity, an environment and what it has to connect to is enough to start. Noble quotes against the requirement rather than from a price list, and says where a specification will not do what it is being asked to do.
