It carries no prices, no stock or availability position, no ratings or reviews, and no manufacturer specifications — everything technical is confirmed against the requirement at quotation, because a published figure nobody has verified is a figure somebody will procure against.
What this category is for
Office hardware installed in an industrial environment fails in a predictable order: the fan draws in dust, the temperature exceeds the rating, the storage wears out from vibration or write cycles, and the power supply is the first casualty of a dirty feed. Each of those is designed out of a rated product rather than tolerated by it.
The other half is where it sits in the network. Equipment on a production or utility network is on the operational side of a boundary that should be defended, and connecting it to the corporate estate is an architecture decision rather than a cable run.
What it covers
Product types rather than part numbers. The type is the decision; the model follows from the requirement and is confirmed at quotation.

What decides the specification
The questions a quotation is built from. Answering these is usually faster than sending a part number, and it catches the requirement a part number would have got wrong.

Temperature, dust and vibration
The actual conditions inside the enclosure, not the ambient in the building. An enclosure in direct sun is a different specification from the room around it.

What powers it
DC supply, voltage range and tolerance of an unstable feed — the difference between an industrial unit and an office one is often here first.

How it is mounted
Panel cut-out, DIN rail, wall or machine mount, and whether the front has to be sealed against washdown.

How long the model stays available
Industrial estates are replaced in decades, not in refresh cycles, so long product availability matters more than the current specification.
The work around it
Hardware arrives configured, installed and supported, or it arrives in a box. These are the services that make the difference.
Brand and model names are used descriptively where a requirement names one. All marks belong to their owners.

A quantity, an environment and what it has to connect to is enough to start. Noble quotes against the requirement rather than from a price list, and says where a specification will not do what it is being asked to do.
